This could quite possibly be my favorite craft of the year. This flower is so easy to make, and provides lots of different looks that you can experiment with. You can get three large flowers from a single piece of felt (if you don't mind not having leaves), and can easily make more from scrap felt.

To get started, you'll need the following supplies:

  • Felt, one piece for flower and additional for leaves if desired
  • Hot glue gun, I prefer low temp
  • Scissors

Cut your felt piece into three strips on the long edge. Fold this over and glue the raw edges together. When the glue has dried, fringe cut the folded edges of the flower. The best part about this flower is that you can vary the width of your strips to completely change the look of your flower. The example we are showing today has fringe that's about 1/4 inch wide. If you cut the fringe about the width of your scissor blade, you'll get a lovely wild, fluffy flower.

Once you've fringed the length of your felt strip, put a line of glue on one end of the raw edge. Begin rolling the flower, keeping the base as flat as possible. In this case, close is good enough, don't worry about it being too perfect, but having a flat base makes it easier to glue to your project later on.

Keep gluing and rolling until you've reached the end of your felt strip. Attach your leaves to the bottom, if desired and tada! You have a pom pom flower!
